shut your excuse hole

Ugh my hips are killing me today.  Haven’t been to the chiro in 3 weeks.  I thought I had an appt yesterday but I got no reminder text.  I just want to stretch all day.

Last week was a cut back week.  Ended up running 4 days, brick 1 day, and two off days of not much.  One of those off days was supposed to include a workout but I was too tired.  Looking forward to weaning from the pump and getting that extra hour and half to two hours of my day back.  Probably for sleep!

Did a really fun workout on Sunday.  Ran around town then went to the track.  Did stairs, but I varied it a bit, doing some jumps and things.  Then I did some laps.  Did some butt kicks and skipping.  Ran more stairs and stopped at the top to do pushups.  Didn’t feel like much at the time but my arms are sore!

I have a long run on Saturday.  Aiming for 2 hours.  Unfortunately, my routes are limited because of the red winged black birds.  I was attacked by one on Saturday.  It got me on the back of the head.  So now all my long rural routes and the bike path is out.  I am just too terrified to run on them.  Going to have to explore some new neighborhoods I suppose…not easy in a small town.  I think I have pretty much been to them all except a few cul de sacs on the outer edges.

My parents are moving out today and tomorrow so I am hoping to have my treadmill set up ASAP.  Possibly Thursday.  Definitely want to be using it during my long run.  I was thinking I would do 15 min- treadmill, 45 min- outside, 15 min- treadmill, 30 min.- outside and 15 min- treadmill.  We will see how that goes.  Damn black birds.

Sunday was an easy peasy day for me.  Sleeping in.  Then managed to do a couple TA arm workouts, a short ab one, and a short bike ride later.

Tuesday I planned to run for an hour but ended up going a few extra minutes.  Running out on the gravel roads alone feels so good but still, not so safe.  I saw the deer again.  Or maybe it was a different deer.  It would run for a bit then stop and look at me.  Then take off running again.  The black birds weren’t as bitchy as usual.

Monday I ran for about 49 minutes.  Doing some hills and running at the track.  I only ran hard for 1 400 and 1 200.  I figure that’s a start to my speed workouts.

Wednesday I was going to do a brick workout but it was raining.  So I just ran instead for 45 minutes.  I was wearing my glass because I didn’t realize it was going to rain when I headed out and didn’t feel like going back to put in my contacts.  So that was interesting.  Later that night we walked to a concert that was downtown and had the kids out too late.  I finally got Red down around 1015.  Then I passed out around 1030.  I woke up and pumped and then decided more sleep sounded better than any workout.  So I kept on snoozing until 6:30.  Did a 10 minute arm workout because I want cut arms, then got ready for my day.  Tomorrow I should probably run for around an hour.  Saturday will be long run day.  Aiming for 95 minutes.  Hopefully the weather cooperates.  My hamstring has been cooperating very well except I am still cautious when I am running fast because I feel it stretching.

An older guy that runs around town invited me to run with him and his (female) friend sometime.  I added him on FB so we will see if I ever feel like running with them.  I kind of doubt it.

Baby note-

I am still pumping about 6 times a day.  Same as last time, around the 8 month mark my supply has dropped. I was around 60-70 ounces a day now I am around 45.  Still plenty for E.  I am wanting to wean, but I won’t.  It just seems easier than having to figure out what formula she will like.  She is eating purees but only likes the sweet ones.  I’m trying to build up my freezer stash now, but it’s harder with less output.  I don’t manage that whole process very well.

As for E, she is cute as hell.  Just looking at her makes me want to squeeze her so hard.  She is trying so hard to crawl.  She will go from sitting and just keep bending and reaching to get on all 4s.  But from there, she doesn’t really know what to do.  So instead, she will grab onto anything and everything to stand up and move. I think that’s called cruising.  So maybe she will skip crawling and start walking.

you don’t own space, so stop acting like you do

Still running, but it’s not the same.  Everything feels different.  I run slower.  I enjoy it and want to run for a long time, but am restricted by my body.  My hamstring is still weird.  Not like it was, but I am afraid to run fast on it.  I need to put more time into healing it, but I have no time.  I was doing the TENS machine and felt no difference.  Maybe ice and stretching will help.  I also haven’t had access to my treadmill for 3 weeks now.  I am considering joining a gym for a month until we can get that set up again.  My runs are getting longer and I like to do a couple miles warm up and cool down inside, especially when the weather is crappy or hot.

I am not sure what feels so weird now about running.  Is it because I don’t use a GPS anymore?  I just run by time and sometimes I will use the USATF map it later in the day to get a rough estimate of how far I ran.  Maybe it is because I went from running in the dark from my old house to suddenly sunny and hot at 5 a.m. starting from my new house.

I have been discovering new rural routes to run, which has been really fun.  I am not sure how safe they are.  These red winged black birds are sons of bitches.  They fly right over me, swoop, and yell at me.  I’m definitely going to get pooped on.  I saw a deer this morning doing a happy little hop across a soy bean field.  The cows and sheep I pass by always stop and stare at me.  I wave. Running on the gravel roads, I have only encountered one or two cars and I always have my cell phone with me, but I still feel a bit nervous.  The bike path is nice, but not shaded at all and can get pretty windy at times.  I rode my bike to the next town north and ran a few loops there on Sunday.  Then I rode back to town and ran around the track a couple times.  I usually head to the track about 3 times a week to run stairs on the bleachers.  I am still too timid to try a track workout though.  Running on the soft track does feel pretty good though.

I am not doing Race for the Cure this year.  I am planning on getting in an 80 minute long run instead.  I am planning on doing the local 4 miler, but I will be pretty depressed by my time, I’m sure.  Same with the 7 miler.   Just trying to focus on staying healthy and building stamina for a fall marathon.  Fingers crossed.
